We really glad to have Kipyn back on our stage this season. Her past appearances have been something special.
Kipyn Martin is an emerging Indie Folk singer-songwriter whose roots sink deep into the banks of the Shenandoah River. She currently plays festivals, concert halls, coffeehouses, and house concerts from New England to Texas.
Kipyn celebrated several milestones in January 2017 including the release of Dance Across the Sky, a new solo project following up her debut Undercover Muse, and winning the coveted Gold Award in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (Open category) for God is Love, her third MASC Gold adding to previous wins in 2013 and 2014.
Additional accolades for Kipyn include being honored by the Washington Area Music Association with their WAMMIE Award for New Artist of the Year in 2015 and multiple nominations the following year for Songwriter of the Year and Folk Contemporary Vocalist.
Kipyn also tours the country with Allison Shapira in the duo show Joan & Joni, a tribute to the music of Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell (for additional details about Joan & Joni visit www.joanandjoni.com). 2017 touring for Kipyn includes Dance Across the Sky release shows and the first Midwest concerts for Joan & Joni with performances scheduled in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. We were lucky to have them with us a year ago.
“Kipyn Martin entered my musical universe several months ago, when the one and only John Gorka raved about her on his Facebook page. I ordered her 2013 debut album as fast as I could, and … I was amazed. I especially love the song “Undone,” not only because of the Joni Mitchell-like songwriting but also the voice. Martin is blessed with a truly incredible voice.

Kirsten Maxwell is a Long Island based singer/songwriter. She started writing songs in High School and performing regularly at open mics and small gigs in College. Since then, Kirsten has committed to a life of music full-time. Without the help of label, agent, or manager, she has toured extensively in the U.S., released one album and recorded an EP, won a number of songwriting competitions and performed at festivals on the East Coast and in Texas. Her grassroots following doubled in the past year and the release of her new self-titled EP garnered reviews from such notable publications as No Depression Magazine. In December, Kirsten opened for rock icon Melissa Etheridge. She has also shared stages with Karla Bonoff, Ferron, Sophie Hawkins, Bill Staines, Michael Johnson, Slaid Cleaves, Vance Gilbert, and Nicole Atkins.
