Scott Ainslie

Scott Ainslie

Scott Ainslie has been a musician almost all of his life, picking out melodies on the family piano when he was three years old. He came of age during the Civil Rights era and developed an affinity for cross-cultural exchange. He has studied with elder musicians on both sides of the color line, delving into Southern Appalachian old-time music as well a gospel and blues. Armed with a variety of instruments – vintage guitars, a fretless gourd banjo, a cigar box guitar – Scott brings the history, roots music, and sounds of America alive. He transcribed the original recordings of Delta blues legend Robert Johnson and wrote a book on his life and guitar style. He has released six critically acclaimed solo albums, the latest of which is “The Last Shot Got Him,” an award-winning collection of songs played on a 1934 Gibson arch-top guitar.

Not only are you going to be highly entertained at a Scott Ainslie concert, you’re going to learn a lot about the music that is
unique to his country and that has influenced much of the music which has come after it.
